Raymond Tyler started his respiratory career in 1991 working in hospital Intensive care units and emergency departments. After a couple of years of providing Hospital Respiratory Care Mr. Tyler answered the call to work in the sleep lab. He continued working in sleep labs for various hospitals throughout the Tampa Bay area, helping two of them obtain their accreditation through the American Sleep Academy. Mr. Tyler performed polysomnography for more than a decade performing tens of thousands of sleep studies. After speaking with many patients Mr. Tyler realized that there was a greater need for respiratory therapy to be provided to patients in their homes. So mr. Tyler pursued a career of taking care of patients in their home educating them on proper use of oxygen, nebulizers, cpap/bipap and living with COPD and OSA. Mr. Tyler was proud to answer the call from the Respiratory Agency when they asked him to assist in launching the Home Lung Expansion Protocol Program in conjunction with the James a Haley VA hospital in Tampa Florida and continues to support their efforts. When Mr. Tyler returned to providing Respiratory Care in the hospital setting he began to quickly understand that a lot of the problems associated with the COPD patients that he was treating was caused by tobacco abuse. Mr. Tyler obtained his Tobacco Treatment Specialist credentials and begin counseling smokers and helping them to rid themselves of the deadly habit. Mr. Tyler is an African American and was deeply offended when he begin to learn that tobacco companies were selectively targeting the African American community and especially the young people in that community to recruit them for their hideous products. Mr. Tyler has begun his effort to help as many people as God will allow him to to kick the habit of tobacco abuse and help them understand that" Smoking Sucks"
